THE GUNDRUM FAMILY
PIONEERS:
Mr. Heinrich Gundrum was born in Augered Hessen Darmstadt, Germany on April 24, 1816.
His wife Ludmilla Gehring was born in Obernheim, Wittenberg, Germany on October 2, 1822.
Mr. Gundrum came to America on August 16, 1837. After residing in Ohio and Indiana for seven years, he came to Wisconsin in 1844. He bought 80 acres in Racine County. After one year he bought 160 acres from the United States Government for $200.00 (Two Hundred Dollars) in the town of Addison, Washington County, Wisconsin.
His wife Ludmilla Gehring, was born at Obernheim, Wittenberg, Germany on October 2, 1822. She came to America in November 1845. After staying in New York City for one year, she came to Milwaukee where she was joined by her parents. The family then settled in the town of Addison in 1847.
Heinrich Gundrum and Ludmilla Gehring were married in St. Lawrence Church, St. Lawrence, Wisconsin on January 13, 1848. They established their home on the farm mentioned above in the Town of Addison, near Addison Center, Washington County, Wisconsin. The couple had ten children, two of which died in infancy, eight children were living at the time of their Golden Wedding Anniversary on January 13, 1898.
Heinrich Gundrum died on July 28, 1901 at the age of 85 and Ludmilla (Gehring) Gundrum died on March 29, 1902 at the age of 80 and laid to rest in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Nenno, Wisconsin.
